The challenge is to:
- Act as the primary finance lead in the development and review of all major Tech and Digital business cases.
- Critically challenge key assumptions, cost estimates, and benefit projections to ensure robustness, accuracy, and strategic alignment.
- Partner with Project Owners, Tech Leads, and Business Unit stakeholders to secure formal sign-off and commitment on benefit ownership and delivery.
- Ensure business cases comply with financial policies (e.g., ROI hurdles, capex control) and reflect a comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Support the development of the overall Tech and Digital investment strategy, including budget allocation, prioritization frameworks, and portfolio management.
- Support in preparation of Board papers, strategy decks, and Executive Committee updates, translating complex tech investments into clear financial narratives and compelling business rationale.
- Provide insightful analysis on the performance of the tech portfolio, highlighting variances, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
- Move beyond reporting numbers to providing actionable insights on tech spend performance, benefit realization, and the strategic health of the digital portfolio.
- Prepare and present regular financial updates to the Tech Leadership Team, focusing on the "so what" and driving accountability.
- Establish a rhythm of business for post-investment reviews to track actual ROI vs. planned and embed a culture of financial accountability.
Do you have experience in financial analysis?
- Qualified accountant/ financial advisor (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA) or MBA with 5+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in a strategic finance business partner role, with a track record of challenging business cases and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional financial modeling and analysis skills, with the ability to deconstruct and stress-test complex financial models.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Commercial acumen and a deep curiosity for how technology drives business value.
- Prior experience in technology, digital, e-commerce, or a digitally-native business.
- Experience in managing the financial aspects of a large project portfolio or investment committee process.
- Familiarity with key tech financial concepts (e.g., SaaS metrics, agile funding, cloud TCO).
- Strategic Thinker: Able to see the big picture and connect financial outcomes to long-term strategy.
- Courageous & Influential: Has the confidence to constructively challenge senior leaders and hold them accountable to financial commitments.
- Proactive & Insightful: Anticipates questions and provides insights before they are asked.
- Collaborative Bridge-Builder: Excels at building trust and aligning diverse stakeholders across business and technology functions.
