The challenge is to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy for the designated department, aligned with overall company objectives.
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the Grocery & Fresh sector.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, trading terms with suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality products.
- Work closely with marketing department to develop and execute marketing and promotional activities to drive sales and customer engagement in the department.
- Oversee the operational efficiency of the department, including in-store processes, store merchandise display, inventory management, logistics, and related operating costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
- Set and monitor performance targets using key metrics (e.g., sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, market share, basket size, sales participation rate) and report regularly to senior management.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices and implement innovative solutions to optimize the department performance.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the commercial team and other supporting departments.
- Make a real impact on the quality and affordability of Grocery & Fresh products for our customers.
Do you have experience in FMCG?
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in retail with a senior commercial leadership role within the retail or food industry, preferably with a focus on ambient and refrigerated food.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing commercial strategies that drive growth and profitability.
- Strong understanding of the food market dynamics, including sourcing, pricing, and consumer trends.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing the food industry.
