The Role

The Category Manager for Ready-to-Eat (RTE) at 7-Eleven Singapore is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to enhance the company's RTE product offerings. The role will be responsible to develop and implement strategic plans for assigned categories within the framework of a disciplined category management business process to achieve company’s financial goals and objectives, improve market share, customer satisfaction and financial objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement business plans for RTE categories to achieve category sales, profit and income goals, boost market share, and improve customer satisfaction. 
  • Product Assortment: Curate an optimal product mix that aligns with customer preferences and market trends.
  • Collaborate with Product Development: Work closely with Product Development team to conceptualise and launch new products, limited time offers to drive sales and customer excitement. Own the full product development cycle (eg: Product curation, Design, QC, Freight arrangement etc) 
  • Promotional Strategies: Design and execute promotional campaigns to drive sales and attract customers.
  • Pricing Strategy: Develop competitive pricing models that offer value to customers while ensuring profitability.
  • Develop and implement placement and planogram strategies that improve category turnover and positively influence customer shopping behaviour
  • Establish collaborative retailer/supplier relationships to maximise income/terms/discounts to improve sales and profitability of category
  • Inventory Management: Oversee stock levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts, ensuring product availability and freshness. 
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all RTE products meet legal standards and quality expectations.

About You

  • University degree in Business, Purchasing or Food related disciplines 
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in retail, food industry or catering services with solid experience in category management metrics/ technique 
  • Understand local retail market and experience in trade / business negotiation
  • Strong negotiation skills with good analytical mind and business acumen
  • Creative, detail minded with excellent communication skills and can work independently 
  • Self-motivated, be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines 
  • A good team player with strong project planning and influencing skills 
  • Experience on SOP’s food safety & quality and hygiene system, e.g. HACCP, ISO22000 is an advantage but not essential
