Is this your next challenge in Retail Industry?

The challenge is to:

 

1. Data Governance Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the enterprise data governance strategy, aligning with business goals and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, industry-specific regulations).
  • Establish and chair a Data Governance Council with cross-functional leadership to drive adoption and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year data governance roadmap, ensuring scalability and adaptability to evolving business needs.

2. Data Ownership & Stewardship

  • Implement a data ownership framework, assigning clear roles (Data Owners, Data Stewards) and accountability across business units.
  • Define data domain boundaries and ensure proper documentation of data lineage, metadata, and business glossaries.
  • Foster a culture of data accountability through training, communication, and governance workflows.

3. Data Quality & Standards

  • Design and monitor data quality metrics, dashboards, and remediation processes to ensure high-quality, reliable data.
  • Establish data classification and security policies (e.g., PII handling, access controls) in collaboration with InfoSec and Legal teams.
  • Implement automated data quality checks and issue-tracking mechanisms for proactive governance.

4. Policy & Compliance

  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures (e.g., retention policies, audit requirements).
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX) and internal data privacy mandates.
  • Partner with Legal and Risk teams to conduct data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and audits.

5. Technology & Tooling

  • Evaluate and implement data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon) for metadata management, lineage tracking, and workflow automation.
  • Collaborate with IT and Data Engineering teams to embed governance into data pipelines (e.g., data cataloging, quality checks at ingestion).
  • Drive adoption of self-service governance capabilities for business users.


Do you have experience in Data Field?

  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or compliance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and regulatory standards (GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239).
  • Proven track record of implementing data ownership models and stewardships programs in large organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of data quality tools (e.g., Great Expectations, Soda), metadata management, and lineage tracking.
  • Experience with data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence C-level executives and cross-functional teams.
