The challenge is to:
Leadership & Strategy Execution
- Lead the Responsible and Ethical Sourcing Team in executing the DFI Sustainability Strategy, focusing on product, packaging, and supplier ethical standards.
- Responsible for developing workstreams and strategies across raw materials, sourcing, environmental impacts within the supply chain, and circular economy.
- Oversee implementation and monitoring, including setting standards and targets, and establishing robust procedures that sustain and enhance DFI Retail Group’s reputation.
- Help govern sustainability roadmaps to ensure implementation of time-bound commitments, including tracking tasks/KPIs and regular progress reporting.
Expertise Development & Internal Support
- Develop to become a subject matter expert across sustainability matters.
- Support team members in developing expertise and understanding of each sustainability area in scope.
- Brief and train members on the What, How, and When for sustainability workstreams, and proactively coach internal stakeholders.
- Provide expertise and guidance on sustainability to Communication and Consumer Affairs, Marketing, Sourcing, Technical, Commercial teams, and suppliers.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act as the key point of contact for all product-related sustainability queries—both internal and external.
- Engage with key internal stakeholders to understand customer expectations, commercial challenges/opportunities, and reputational risks.
- Partner with Group Communication and Consumer Affairs and applicable third parties.
Research, Policy & Regulatory Alignment
- Conduct research, develop, and implement policies, communications, and training for each workstream to deliver sustainability objectives.
- Perform thorough research and engage with external experts to understand the science behind sustainability challenges and initiatives.
- Work with Regulatory Affairs and Legal teams to manage new regulatory shifts related to sustainability across DFI markets, ensuring seamless implementation.
- Horizon scan for emerging sustainability risks.
Business Integration & Opportunity Identification
- Analyze and present solution options to the business, identifying opportunities to leverage competencies and scale to lead for customers.
Do you have experience in responsible and ethical sourcing?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business with Sustainability Focus / Sustainable Management or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of extensive experience and knowledge of sustainable sourcing, environmental and circular economy principles in relation to product supply chains.
- Experience in Western markets and local markets such as ASEAN and China will be preferred. Demonstrable impact through leading cross-functional projects.
- Good command of both written & spoken English.
- Demonstrated team leadership and development.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, work under pressure, and prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
- Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player.
- Hard-working and self-motivated.
